The Company has core expertise relating to waste, minerals and development sectors and is currently seeking an Associate or Technical Director (Environment) to join our team.

Location: Part-home-working and flexibility on location, but preferably central England.

The role will involve fee-earning consultancy together with management responsibility for service delivery and development of a small team of environmental consultants. The successful candidate will direct, provide technical advice on, and oversee a range of environmental service areas including the production of technical outputs, particularly Environmental Permit applications (for waste and industrial installations), and other environmental survey, monitoring, modelling and assessment work (which may include air quality, bioaerosol, dust, odour, water, ground conditions, depending on the skillset of the successful candidate). Qualifications

A successful candidate will be able to demonstrate suitability in relation to several areas, including:

  • Minimum of 10 years applicable experience, especially involving environmental consultancy / permitting / survey / management / assessment / monitoring and waste;
  • Proven ability to produce / oversee concise, high quality technical outputs to deadlines on budget;
  • Advising clients on technical matters and representing them at regulator meetings etc.;
  • Leading, inspiring, managing and developing a multidisciplinary team of consultants;
  • Resource planning, and project and team budgetary control;
  • Working with Business Development Managers to develop new business and maintain good client relationships;
  • Preparation of winning fee proposals;
  • Understanding and leading compliance with legal Health and Safety requirements;
  • Qualification to at least degree (equivalent) level in a relevant environmental subject;
  • Full or Chartered level membership of a relevant professional institution (e.g. CIWM, CIWEM, IEMA or SocEnv);
  • Good IT literacy (MS Office at least); and
  • Proactive communicator with a friendly, supportive, collaborative and practical ‘can do’ approach.

Whilst relevant experience in consultancy is desirable applicants who can demonstrate experience in direct communication with clients and other stakeholders may be considered.

As the role requires working on projects around the UK, a full UK driving licence, access to a vehicle and ability and willingness to drive to project locations around the UK, sometimes with overnight stays, will be required.
