Crestwood Bake-Off!

On the 11th February Crestwood held a very successful Bake-Off. The scoring was taken very seriously, with each bake tasted to ensure it was a fair competition. We can safely say everyone went home feeling very full that day!

We had a sweet and savoury round with Jenny Gatward winning the sweet award for her chocolate orange fox cake (image below), and Dan Appasamy winning the savoury round with his samosas. Both deserved winners!

Not only did everyone get involved by either making or tasting the delicious bakes, but we also raised £100.00  for the Teenage Cancer Trust.

Here are two of our most creative entries:

Made by Jenny Gatward and Jaclyn Walker.

Thanks to everyone who baked and donated.

Christmas Card Competition - Old Tree Nursery

This year, Old Tree Nursery in Pendeford, a gardening nursery which is run by students with learning difficulties and mental health issues, submitted their best Christmas card designs to us so we could use one as our e-card.

We loved everyone's festive offerings, and could tell a lot of effort and Christmas spirit had been put into every one!
Here are all the fantastic entries which have pride of place in our reception.

After a good debate in our office, a winner was decided. Congratulations to Abby Burgess on her winning design. Abby has won a voucher for herself, and we are also making a donation to Old Tree Nursery.

Thanks again to all of you who entered!

Emissions Conference 2015

Dan Appasamy, Senior Environmental Scientist,  presented at the annual Emissions conference entitled “Bioaerosols and Odour: Mitigating the risks”. The conference was held at the Think Tank Museum in Birmingham and had a wide variety of talks on bioaerosols and odour emissions.

The main focus this year was the discussion on the M9 guidance which will replace the Afor protocol for monitoring bioaerosols emissions. After consultation, the EA decided to review the document and separate the risk assessment from the sampling methodology. The protocol will most probably go for a second round of consultation before being published next year. Another uncertainty is the BREF consultation and how it will all tie in with bioaerosols and the M9 protocol.

Crestwood is also part of the Renewable Energy Association (REA) and will work in collaboration with the HSE and major operators on new projects regarding personnel exposure to bioaerosols and mitigating risks for employees.

Congratulations to Katherine Webster who, after a lot of hard work, has passed her Landscape Institute Chartership exam!

Crestwood Environmental Limited are pleased to announce that we moved into our own dedicated offices on Monday 18th May. The move has been planned to accommodate the new environmental services we now offer, including archaeology and cultural heritage and the associated increase in professional staff. The strong academic links developed over 25 years on the Science Park with the University of Wolverhampton will not be lost and will be maintained in fields such as bioaerosols, odour, eDNA sampling for protected species and Augmented Reality.
